Swine Flu…Freak out or stay cool?

Posted in: Uncategorized

Where do you fall on the spectrum of Swine Flu emotions? It’s all hype? It’s just the flu? We’re doomed?

To be totally honest, I’m a little scared, but trying to remain alarmingly macho at the same time. It IS the flu. People get it every year. Somehow when you associate it with pigs, it gets scary. (one thing to remember is that you CAN NOT get the swine flu from eating pork! Enjoy your bacon.)

I’m a little scared because I’m in a risk group, being asthmatic. As you know if you also have asthma, we’re in the risk group for everything.

Guess I’ll get swabbed and get a shot. Make it two shots with a beer chaser!

Words to Live By…

Posted in: Mommy Diaries

Here is an email my Aunt sent me, thought you might enjoy it!

“May there be peace within today. May you trust that you are exactly
where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite
possibilities that are born of faith in yourself and others. May you
use the gifts you have received and pass on the love that has been
given to you.  May you be content with yourself just the way you are.
Let this knowledge settle into your bones, and allow your soul the
freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and
every one of us.”

Mouth Full of Teeth!

Posted in: Mommy Diaries

Teething…ahhhh…Poor little man is teething to the max right now, and it is so hard to get him comfortable as those little white pearls are shining through. What do you do? Well, they have the baby numbing cream, cold rash rags, teething rings (which he could care less about!), that frozen bagel thing…which I am hesitant to try thinking it may mess them up completely. Our sleeping through the night has turned into sleeping with him on my chest in a chair until he gets comfortable again. I’m not one to let him cry it out for too long. It’s just inhumane. He is going to the doctor today to make sure everything else is going alright considering we have not slept in almost a week. Lots of drooling, but also lots of belly ache. Don’t you wish they could talk…complete sentences and say what is wrong at this little age. I would move mountains to make it better! Anyway, the jury is still out until this afternoon on if it’s just teething or not as far as our past couple of days. Let’s say a little prayer! Alright, everybody have a great afternoon and enjoy the sunshine. I’m putting on my mommy cape and flying away! As always, make it a good one! Carmen

Update…

Posted in: Mommy Diaries

So, here is an update on my Uncle who has been in the hospital for over a month now. He is improving, was moved out of ICU, and in a ‘regular’ room now. That’s BIG news. Wonderful news! It is still a long road ahead, but he is getting there with much strength and prayer. Yesterday was his birthday, I will not tell how old he is…still a baby (ha-ha). So, in honor of my uncle’s, dad’s, an sister’s birthday all on the same day…it has been a beautiful-crazy week. There is no exact time on how long he will be in the hospital, but once he gets moved out of there, he will move to a Rehab Center. Just goes to show we never know what each day will bring, and how much we need to appreciate those around us…the ones we love. Still in somewhat of a red zone, but things are looking up. Keep that positive light going, along with thoughts and prayers. Power works in numbers! Thanks to all who have kept up and prayed for my family.  I will keep you updated as we find out more. As always, make it a good one! Carmen
