Pollen,

Is this the way trees get it on!!!!! Spreading Their pollen around in the wind to “get” with other trees and me. If I did that, I would get aressted. If I had my pollen flying in the wind getting on cars, patio furnisher and on other people, I’m sure people would get mad at me and not to think of all of the child support I would have to pay.

I love my girl carmen but any time it snows or any bad weather shes a no show. I make it ,others make it why cant she? She just bought an SUV. I’m sure that there a good reason, but cmon son!!!!!

There is a part of me that is broken today…you have seen the headlines…you have read the news about the devastation from the earthquake in Haiti. It is so big…so catastrophic, it is hard to even begin to understand. In times like this we feel helpless, but there are ways to help if you have the resources to do so. If you have an extra dollar, an extra 10…please reach out and donate whatever you can. I heard the President hold a Press Conference that gave their website you can go to and donate as much as you can give. The website is: www.whitehouse.gov On the front page it says ‘Help for Haiti’ and you can learn more about it. We are dealing with a country that was already living in poverty conditions that are hard for most of us to even realize or imagine…and now with the earthquake that just hit…children are without families…people are walking the streets with nowhere to go…people are desperate for medical attention. I just spoke with a director at The American Red Cross who is donating 1 Million dollars and have volunteers already on the ground and more coming in. Pray for the friends and family of loved ones over there and Americans who have been affected by this tragedy. If you cannot give money with our own hard economic times, we can still unite and pray. We are all in this together, as brothers and sisters, nation to nation, we all remember Katrina…we all remember. It is the first thought that comes to mind…watching the footage the pictures…people living on a prayer that someone will come help…where they might find their next meal…where to go…where to turn…my heart is broken. Thank you for taking time to read this and spread the word. Remember, every bit counts…there is not such thing as a small donation…every dime counts to get water and food…medical supplies…whatever it may be…there is no small donation. YOU matter…YOU can make a difference… and so do our brothers and sisters around the globe. Let’s show our support and love in any way we can. My prayers go out…Carmen

Something has been on my mind lately that I would like to get to the bottom of. The other night an interesting topic got brought up when I was chitchatting with a girlfriend. Is it true that men are intimidated by single, professional independent women? Is there some kind of ego-power trip there? It just seems like I see all these beautiful, successful women who are single, have a hard time finding a man to date. Or let me rephrase that, a GOOD man to date! Trust me, there are plenty of fish in the loser pool, no offense, it’s just the way of the world. Ok, so now I may seem a bit pompous, but it’s true. I wish I could enter the mind of a man’s brain just for one day…even a couple of hours…and just give me insight on how you guys think. Back in the day, most women played the traditional role…stay at home wives…held the family/household together. What a beautiful role to play, I am in no way knocking it. But in today’s world, not only so we need 2 incomes (or one MAJOR one for single mom’s and dads), women have equal rights to use their talents and abilities to make a living, to support the family. Has this changed the way men view women…the everyday man? If we make more money than you, does that hurt your ego in some way? I’m really not trying to be mean at all, I just would like some honest opinions from my men out there. What do you think? How does that make you feel? I would be ecstatic if my mate made equal or more money than me…it just means we have more to work with and it is an extra benefit. I am in no way a gold digger, but yes the bank account DOES matter. Beyond that, are women of higher power professionally intimidating? Food for thought. As always, make it a good one! Carmen

Swine Flu…Freak out or stay cool?

Where do you fall on the spectrum of Swine Flu emotions? It’s all hype? It’s just the flu? We’re doomed?

To be totally honest, I’m a little scared, but trying to remain alarmingly macho at the same time. It IS the flu. People get it every year. Somehow when you associate it with pigs, it gets scary. (one thing to remember is that you CAN NOT get the swine flu from eating pork! Enjoy your bacon.)

I’m a little scared because I’m in a risk group, being asthmatic. As you know if you also have asthma, we’re in the risk group for everything.

Guess I’ll get swabbed and get a shot. Make it two shots with a beer chaser!

Fall time

I love that all the new tv shows are poping up. Most of them suck but its great to see that its that time of year. I dont see any big blockbuster shows , and it does seem weak. what have you seen? I did see parks and rec and that may show some promise.

First Day of School

Wow, I so remember this day and all the pain and sufferring it used to bring!

After a summer of laziness, it’s time to get up early…AND take a shower…AND wear decent clothes…AND go to school??? For the whole day? “Can’t we just do a half a day for the first few weeks and ease in to this?”

The ride to school (or walk, as many of us did) was so long.

The walk up the sidewalk was too.

Inside, it still smells just like last year. “It’s gonna be a long time until next summer!”

What was that familiar smell? Looking back, it must have been a combination of books, bread baking in the cafeteria, and terror.

The first sight of a friendly face was such a welcome vision! “What did you do all summer?” “Nothing. What did you do?” “Nothing.” “School sucks!” “I know!” A little exchange like that took the edge off, and the next thing you knew, you were walking home from that first day and kind of looking forward to seeing your friends again on the SECOND day of school. After day three, you stopped giving them numbers and it was all routine again.

The top things I learned in school:

Be polite. It counts for a lot.
Don’t two face your friends. You can’t get far enough away to outrun the shame of it.
Try. If you make an effort, you’ll get help. If you don’t, you won’t get any sympathy for being lazy.
Be part of something. Don’t let it all pass you by.

Of course, I learned all these things years after I threw my last stack of school papers high in the air. If my time machine worked, I’d go back and do it right.
